Our Approach

Reading with Magnifying Glass
Baby with Teddy Bear
The Amelia House Nursery approach to delivering a fantastic early years curriculum; in a (large) nut shell.

We offer a modern, vibrant approach to delivering the national Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, that has your child’s interests and needs at its core. We have developed a combination of adult and child-initiated activities to make certain every child gets the right variety of experiences that will help their mind and body grow.

Mindfulness and self-regulation are the foundation of our approach to encouraging positive behaviour and supporting social and emotional development in children, right from the very beginning.

We trust that children are competent and confident learners, and so the curriculum is broken down into chunks that mean children experience challenges - not struggles. We have designed an enhanced curriculum for Pre-schoolers that includes  science, technology, engineering and mathematical (STEM) sessions, outdoor learning based on Forest School Principles, listening and attention activities in preparation for phonics in year 1, and time in an amazing light room to encourage children’s curiosity and creativity.

A Curriculum Based on your child’s needs and interests.

Every 6 weeks your child has a bespoke curriculum designed around them. You will receive detailed information about their development. We call this the ‘focus child’ approach.

A healthy mind and body, provided by healthy eating and daily fresh air and exercise, are a crucial part of our educational approach. So children go outside EVERY day, regardless of the weather, and have opportunities for large physical play both inside and outside the nursery.
